Reminder - RVC LEARN downtime – Starting Tomorrow

Dear All,

Following my previous e-mails, I just wanted to take the opportunity to share a final reminder, as previously agreed at LTAC and noted in the College calendar, LEARN will be undergoing a critical upgrade on the 29th July 2021, as part of our continued commitment to enhance and improve the digital landscape at the RVC.

To allow this upgrade work to be completed as robustly as possible, LEARN will be taken offline from tomorrow at 06:00 GMT.

We hope to have Learn available again from 12:00 GMT on Friday 30th July. However, following the upgrade work, further changes and tests will be required which could result in LEARN being unavailable for a further period until 09:00 GMT on Monday 2nd August whilst this fundamental work is completed. Diligent testing has been completed and we are confident that the upgrade process will be a success.

During this downtime all users will not be able to access LEARN or its content. We realise that many of you need to access LEARN at this time of year and would like to recommend that you plan ahead so that you can access the materials you need in advance.

For students:

Looking to view course materials?

1.    Prior to the planned outage log in to RVC LEARN and navigate to the content you need to access.

2.    click on the settings “cog” in the top right of the page and select either “print book” or “print this chapter”.

3.    If you then select file/print from your browser’s top menu bar the print summary page that appears will allow you to then save the book or chapter as a PDF (which can be viewed offline). Additional guidance about working offline can be found on LEARN

Looking to view Panopto videos?

  1. Video content within Panopto can now be downloaded from LEARN directly to your computer or laptop. If you are unsure how to do download Panopto content, please view this guidance

For staff:

Looking to mark and feedback on assignments?

  1. Prior to the planned outage log in to RVC LEARN and navigate to the assignments you need to access.
  2. Submitted assignments can be downloaded, annotated offline. Guidance on downloading, annotations and uploading marked scripts can be found here.

All further updates will be sent out via this channel and we will of course notify users when the service has been restored.

Following the upgrade, you may notice several changes in RVC LEARN including enhancements to the menu navigations. This is further development within a project to develop the accessibility and navigation within LEARN and improve the overall user experience for you.

As a reminder, if you experience any issues with RVC LEARN please log a call directly via the Service Desk Portal.

The LEARN helpdesk is the quickest route to resolving your RVC LEARN issues and is staffed 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Any tickets received outside of those hours will be responded to during working hours.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst this critical upgrade work is completed and thank you for your patience and understanding.
