Proper referencing is an integral part of academic writing: you must be able to properly acknowledge the ideas you’ve referenced or discussed, and to cite the sources (books, journal articles, websites, etc.) that you’ve used to inform your research. 

It can be difficult to keep track of all your different sources, and even more challenging to format your references according to the conventions of the required citation style. Fortunately there are a number of citation management software solutions to help with this task.

EndNote is available on all RVC computers, and can be used in concert with Scout, as well as various eJournal databases like PubMed, to download and organize citations, and even perform searches. There is also an EndNote plugin for MS Word (installed on all RVC computers) that allows you to import references directly from EndNote to your paper (“cite while you write”).
