Please note that a letter of support is required from your tutor.
Subject: Student Canine Health Awards
I am Mike Townsend, Chairman of the Trustees of the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, and the purpose of this email is to ask you to publicise within your student body the fact that we have 2 awards of £5,000 each to make to outstanding candidates in the field of canine health research. The timescale for applications is now very short, and I should be grateful if you could help us give publicity to these awards, and encourage your outstanding candidates to apply.
The following provides details of the Awards, and of how to apply:
Student Canine Health Awards 2015 - two awards of £5,000
3 weeks to apply to win!!!
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust has been generously sponsored once more by Vernon and Shirley Hill of Metro Bank to fund awards for outstanding candidates in the field of canine health research.
There are 4 Awards in total, TWO of which (for £5,000 each) are for students at British universities (or similar institutions). One of these is for an undergraduate, almost certainly an intercalating student, and the other for post graduate level (probably studying for an MSc or PhD).
Applications must be submitted by 27th March 2015, sent electronically to Fay.Moore@thekennelclub.org.uk. The application should be in typescript, and include a supporting letter from the candidate’s supervisor or equivalent person at the university.
A pro forma application form may be found at http.//www.thekennelclub.org.uk/our-resources/kennel-club-charitable-trust/international-canine-health-awards/   The student applicant need only complete the applicable contents from this form (e.g. an undergraduate is unlikely to have published peer-reviewed work).
The names, position and contact details of 2 referees are requested. These will be contacted only in the case of front-runners for each award. It is also possible that a few applicants will be asked to attend an interview in London during the first half of May 2015.
The Awards will be announced and presented at a ceremony to be held at noon on 25th June at the 8th International Conference on Advances in Canine and Feline Genomics and Inherited Diseases, convened at Churchill College, Cambridge University. (This does not imply that the judges will necessarily favour work in the field of genetics).
We look forward to receiving many strong applications to demonstrate the depth of research into and interest in canine health.
 Mike Townsend
 Chairman of Trustees
The Kennel Club Charitable Trust.
